In 2013 the venture capital raised by Biotechnology companies in Canada almost doubled (93% increase) compared to the previous year’s figure, to reach a total of USD 139m. The majority of Biotech products in the industry belong to the area of oncology, followed by products developed for nervous system and for Infectious diseases indications. Distributors, makers of re-usable instruments and analytical services providers dominate the Supplier & Engineering, Medical Technology and Biotechnology (R&D) sectors respectively.
